From jukebox boys to revolting studentsRichard Hoggart and the study of British youth cultureClare Hall, University of Cambridge, England Richard Hoggarts career coincided with the emergence of youth cultures, from the teddy boys of the 1950s to the student protest movement of the 1960s. Using historical and published records, this article investigates what Hoggart had to say about British youth culture, and the influences that informed his thought.
